About the role

Our Content Production UX team is responsible for overseeing the visual design of our education products and bringing user experience frameworks and methodologies to a visual design context. As we further develop the suite of products and subjects that our print resources cover, Content UX’s mission is to ensure that users have consistent, frictionless, educationally rich experiences with our resources. The role sits within the wider Content Production Team who are responsible for creating the next generation of print and digital resources for our secondary education users. The Content Production Team collaborates with teams in Sales, Support, and Tech/Digital and Executive.

Key responsibilities

  • Apply user-centred principles and methodologies to print and static content design
  • Mentoring a large team of junior designers with designing templates and design systems for our textbook titles
  • Partner with delivery teams and content authors to help realise their vision and support student outcomes
  • Contribute to developing the design language and culture of the Content Production team
  • Be involved in user research and usability testing
  • Measure design impact and improvement over time using qualitative and quantitative data
  • Championing design consistency and user empathy within the team
  • Understand the end user’s (student’s) needs and translate this into visual design solutions
  • Mixture of user research, testing, trials, and hand-on design
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the Content Production UX function

  • You’re an experienced visual designer with experience working in design for publishing and/or print resources.
  • You’re comfortable and familiar with working in Adobe CC and Google Workspace.
  • You’re interested in user-centred design principles and methodologies and passionate about applying these in a visual design context. to achieve the best learning outcomes for teachers and students
  • You think deeply about design and are passionate about developing design language and design thinking in a large team context.
  • You are a strong written and verbal communicator, and love exploring and sharing ideas through the medium of writing.
  • You are excellent at building relationships with internal and external users.
  • You’re energised by a dynamic working environment, and keen to make the move to a mission-driven company with plenty of opportunities for growth.
  • You possess a growth mindset and orientation towards continuous improvement and learning.
